On Friday the 20th of January 2023, the International Student Office welcomed more than 120 students starting their exchange mobility this semester in our university.

Students from Europe, but also from more distant countries such as Brazil or China gathered for a meeting marking the beginning of their semester abroad. During the meeting, they received all the relevant information and steps to make the most of their semester.

Colleagues from the SSU (student health department), the BU (university library), the SUAPS (sports department), the MDE (cultural department) were also present to give students information about their missions and services. The meeting ended on friendly note with a snack so students could mingle and meet the BEI team!

Event : exchange students soirée
On Tuesday 28th of February,  the International Relation office hold a party for exchange students and students enrolled in international double diplomas. Following introductions of the team of the International student office, 80 students engaged in different games (human bingo), board games (Indian and Japanese billiard, passe-trappe) and quizzes.

Student organizations such as BDE AES, Univert Lumière, Nous Toutes Lyon 2, and CEELSPS were gathered to present their activities to the students. The evening ended with a cocktail party during which students could meet in a friendly atmosphere.
How many exchange students for 22/23 ?
Lyon 2 welcomed about 370 exchange students for the fall semester. 150 among them are due to stay for the whole year.

Last January, 170 more students joined our ranks for the second semester.

Program Alter Ego
After more than 990 participations in the cultural activities offered in S1, the newcomers of S2 also had the opportunity to take part in them in order to facilitate their social and cultural integration:
 
  • February 9 international cafés, in English, Portuguese, Chinese and French( for the first time ever). 19 students were present to mingle in their target language.
  • February 3 to February 11 : 81 students discovered Lyon during guided tours  
  • February 25 : 47 students took part in a day trip outside of Lyon. They visited Pérouges, a nearby medieval city and Grottes de la Balme (natural prehistorical caves).
  • Opération binômes (buddy system) for spring semester attracted 360 students. To know more about it, click here.

International Mentoring Center (CMI)

The International Mentoring Center offers resources for academic success to help international students master the subtleties of French academic language and methodology. Students can participate for workshops and individual tutoring. 
This semester, 170 students enrolled at the CMI.

Workshops
  • 45 to 50 sessions each year
  • 108 students enrolled between October 2022 and February 2023
Individual tutoring
  • 91 hours of tutoring between October 2022 and February 2023
  • 70 students enrolled, 62 of whom received individual meetings

The International Student Office (BEI) is here to help international students!

The BEI assists exchange students during their mobility in order to facilitate their administrative procedures within the University or when they settle in France.
Students can schedule a meeting with the BEI on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, between 9am and 12am and 2pm and 5pm. Click here to make an appointment.
