You want to join an International Double Diploma (DPI) in 2023/2024 and spend part of your studies abroad ?

Nowadays, many universities allow students to attend specialized courses within an international double diploma (DPI) thanks to close collaboration between foreign partner universities. The Université Lumière Lyon 2 currently offers more than 32 DPI and continues to develop new ones as part of its international strategy.

Students attending these courses are both enrolled at their home university and at the partner university. Without extending (most of the time) the duration of the curriculum, these courses offer the possibility to obtain not only the diploma of the home university but also the diploma from the university of mobility or a joint diploma. These bachelor's or master's degrees enable students to develop specific skills that are highlighted by an international experience through studies or internship, while practicing one or two foreign languages. It is also an opportunity to be a part of a group of international students following the same curriculum.

The different types of DPI

- Double diploma : at the end of the course, the student obtains 2 diplomas. Each university issues its own diploma. The degrees are awarded simultaneously (during the same academic year).
- Joint diploma : at the end of the course, the student obtains a single diploma (French diploma) stamped by every university.
- Diploma with mandotary international mobility  : the student commits to courses in which they shall carry out one or several periods of mobility. At the end of the course, they obtain the Université Lumière Lyon 2's diploma along with a transcript of grades and/or a certificate from the partner university.

Specifics of DPI and mobility in the context of DPI

- There is no courses « on demand » at the host university during the mobility, but a real "targeted" course, which ensures a continuity of study built in collaboration between the teaching teams of Lyon 2 and partner universities.
- Joint selections and juries with teachers from partner universities.
- The awarding of one or two diplomas with an enhancement of the course (ex: UFA, Diploma Supplement, Certificates…)
- An asset in the professional market.
- One or more periods of mobility without going through the selection process and the mobility applications' regular calendar : indeed, once they are admitted into the DPI, the student commits to fulfill their mandatory mobility and the institution undertakes to send them on a mobility trip within the framework of the DPI. However, the mobility is only possible in partner universities of the DPI.
