France-Stanford Center for Interdisciplinary Studies

Want to find a way to fund research or travel? The France-Stanford Center offers grants, fellowships, internships, and other funding. Each year, the France-Stanford Center offers more than $200,000 in funding for research projects bringing together scholars and students based in French Institutions and Stanford University. Funded projects span from the humanities and the social sciences to natural and applied sciences.

The following RFPs are considered internal Stanford funding opportunities. Therefore, you do not need to submit your proposals through your RPM/RMG or CGO/OSR for institutional approval. PI waivers are not needed for internal Stanford funding opportunities.

Funding Opportunities AY 2020-21

Collaborative Research (Deadline: March 2, 2020)
The program offers up to $15,000 for collaborative research projects submitted jointly by researchers affiliated with a French institution or at Stanford.

Conferences/Workshops (Deadline: March 2, 2020)
The program seeks to fund conferences and workshops, to be held at Stanford or at any French research institution. Conferences should address significant issues of common interest to scholars from France and Stanford.

Visiting Junior Scholar Fellowship (Deadline: March 2, 2020)
The Visiting Junior Scholar Fellowship offers up to $7,000 to junior scholars from Stanford or a French institution seeking a research visit either in a French institution or at Stanford. Candidates must be postdoctoral students or scholars who have completed a Ph.D. no more than three years from the date of applying.

Visiting Student Researcher Fellowship (Deadline: March 2, 2020)
The Visiting Student Researcher Fellowship offers up to $7,000 to graduate students from Stanford or a French institution, who are interested in pursuing research in a French institution or at Stanford. Candidates must be graduate students pursuing either a master’s or doctoral degree.

Undergraduate Internship Program (Deadline: February 5, 2020)
The Undergraduate Internship program offers undergraduate internships with leading French-based institutions during the summer.
