University Lumière Lyon 2 offers students state-of-the-art equipment. Enhanced by new buildings, the campus offers ideal conditions of study and fulfilment.
The Lumière University (Lyon 2) extends over 2 main sites:
- The Berges du Rhône' campus - an historic site located in the centre of Lyon on the left bank of the Rhone, which is also the head office of the University.
- The Porte des Alpes' campus, on the south-eastern outskirts of Lyon, in Bron and Saint-Priest.
Lyon 2 students have access to 400 computers and 34 Wi-fi access points. The Filtre' building (Innovative Training in Languages and Technology for Research and Education) includes the Language Centre and part of the TICE department (Information and Communication Technologies for Education).
A brand new building comprises the 'Maison des étudiants' (Student's House) (MDE) or Student Centre, a large university restaurant and an entertainment area. The Department of Student Life aims to meet the various needs of students: general information, support for administrative procedures and housing problems, welcoming foreign students, improving the integration of disabled students, etc.
Lyon 2 also contains major sports facilities. Located at Porte des Alpes', these facilities include two sports centres, an artificial climbing wall, a dance studio and a bodybuilding room. The SUAPS (University Department of Physical and Sports Activities) offers over thirty different sports. Students with disabilities are also encouraged to do sports including play ping-pong, archery, basketball, volleyball and swimming.
Several libraries are available on both campuses: two large multidisciplinary libraries and specialist libraries combined within the SCD (Common Documentary Service Department).
