Lyon is a city of culture and creation. Visited by many artists, Lyon is a natural meeting point for members of the artistic community. The city offers a variety of venues and activities to suit a wide audience.
A city rich in cultural events
Every year in Lyon is played out to the rhythm of major festivals such as the biennial dance and modern art festivals, the science festival, the Les nuits de Fourvière' festival, and each year on December 8th the city is lit up for the traditional festival of light.
Lyon hosts many organisations dedicated Theatre and the Arts : la Maison de la Danse, the Opera, the Lyons National Orchestra, the Lumière Institute, and others. Lyons is also a city of museums - the Musee des Beaux-Arts Museum in Lyon being one of the most beautiful museums in France. With a vast workshop les Subsistances' open to creative artists, the city encourages artistic creation.
On a day-to-day basis, Lyons also offers many entertainment activities such as cinema, concerts, exhibitions, theatre, conferences, dance and street art.
